Slime Care Tips

  • A slime activator is essential for initiating and maintaining the chemical reaction that creates slime. With every order, we include 1 tsp of borax for your convenience.

    Before Playing with Your Slime:
Test your slime for stickiness by gently touching it. If it’s sticky, add small amounts of activator (1 tsp of borax mixed with 1 cup of water) one drop at a time.

    Important:
Slime can become overactivated quickly, so be cautious.

  • Follow these simple guidelines to ensure longevity:

    Slime Likes...

    • Cool temperatures – This keeps it smooth and non-sticky.

    • Clean hands – This prevents it from getting dirty or contaminated.

    • Airtight storage – This keeps it from drying out.

    • Small amounts of activator – Add a little bit at a time to maintain the right texture.

    Slime Doesn’t Like...

    • Warm temperatures – This can make it sticky.

    • Dirty hands – This can introduce germs and dirt.

    • Fabric – It will stick to it.

Being left out of its container – This can cause it to dry out.

  • As the chemical reaction behind slime weakens over time, it can become sticky or even liquefy. This is called “underactivated” slime.

    Easy Fix:
Reactivate your slime by adding small amounts of activator and kneading it in until you achieve your desired texture.

    Caution:
Add activator in small increments to avoid making your slime overactivated, which will cause it to become hard and stiff.

  • Too much activator can make your slime hard and stiff.

    Easy Fixes:

    • Knead in PVA glue (like Elmer’s Glue)

    • Add lotion or baby oil (not recommended for clear slime)

    • Knead in some warm water until your slime becomes soft again

    • Give your slime some time to rest! It should soften up after a few weeks.

  • Always make sure you are playing with slime with clean hands! Clear slime naturally becomes cloudy and bubbly after use.

    Easy Fix:
Let your slime rest. Don’t touch it for a couple of hours or days (depending on the bubble buildup). This process is faster when kept in a warm place.

  • If your slime has hardened, there are a few things you can try to bring it back to life:

    Rescue Options:

    • Add warm water, lotion, or baby oil (refer to the “Help! My Slime is Stiff” section for details).

    • If nothing works, you may need to say goodbye to your slime. :(

  • Since slime is water-soluble, it’s easy to remove from fabric.

    Easy Fix:
Simply wash the fabric in your washing machine or gently rub the slime out using a wet cloth.

    • Do NOT eat slime! If ingested, call the American Association of Poison Control at +1 800-222-1222.

    • Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, and nose. If contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water.

    • Keep slime away from clothes, carpet, furniture, pets, and hair.

    • Do not use if you have any cuts, swelling, or eczema on your hands or arms.

    • If you experience a rash or itching after handling slime, stop using it immediately.

    • Always wash your hands before and after handling slime!
